Which pads work?
Any pad that speaks the standard Bluetooth Fitness Machine Service (FTMS). Verified on the Sportstech sPad500; the pads page lists the ones we know about and how to tell what’s inside yours. Pads without incline walk the same rounds flat.
Mosey can’t find my pad
Make sure the pad is powered on, and that your phone’s Bluetooth is off: the pad’s own phone app keeps hold of the connection in the background, even when closed. Mosey connects only to the pad you chose during setup. To pair a different one, choose Set up again… from the Pad menu.
Trying Mosey without a pad
When no pad is found, Mosey offers a demo pad so you can see every screen. The belt readings — and the walker on it — are simulated. Choose Forget the demo pad from the Pad menu to go back to a real one.
The belt starts slowly and waits
That’s the design. When a walk begins, the belt runs at 1 km/h, flat, and holds the door. Step on: the moment the pad feels your steps, your dot on the ring catches the guide up, a bell sounds, and the walk takes its own pace and hills. Step off, and within a few seconds the belt drops back to the crawl; the walk goes on without you until you’re back or it ends.
Mosey reads the pad’s own step count for this. The sPad500 has one; on a pad that doesn’t, Mosey assumes you’re on the belt and the walk starts at its own pace right away. On the sPad500 the count only works at incline levels 0–3, so every walk in the book stays within them.
Pause, stop, or just step off
Every walk has Pause and Stop, in the window and in the menu bar. Stepping off is never a failure: in the Nudge, the rest just starts early, and the next walk is already chosen. Skipped walks don’t change anything; every walk you do join makes the ones after it a little longer, until the day ends.
Why twenty minutes? Why three to twenty?
The rest is the constant: the Blue Zones finding says the longest-lived people are nudged into moving about every twenty minutes. It never says for how long — so the walks have their own lengths, from a three-minute mailbox to a twenty-minute trailhead, and the day opens on the short ones.
Does Mosey count steps, calories or streaks?
No. It counts nothing and keeps no history, on purpose. The only number on screen is the minutes left.
Does it need an account, or send anything anywhere?
No. Mosey runs entirely on your Mac and talks only to your pad, over Bluetooth. See the privacy policy.
